Looks like the dates for this event are going to be June 27-28 June at the St Albans-Shirley Working mens club on Hills Road.

The event will be Mid War 1500 points.
Tables will be set scenarios and may include set objectives.

Be prepared for weather and darkness

As usual scenarios will be varied. The "new" hold the line from the firestorm set is likely, as is stem the tide. I am also looking at including breakthrough assault (Kursk, Alamien).
Looking over a number of ideas for scenarios, just not quite settled on the options. I would like to include a city fight of some sort as well.

Valid books (Afrika, Ostfront) as well as official .PDF are acceptable.

It will be "open" event and expect to face "blue on blue" games. While I would like to do axis/allies if possible our small community means that this gives everyone an opportunity of playing a range of opponents.

More news as I work out a few wrinkles.

Hi there,

Registration can be found on the website:

http://cavaliers.org.nz/happenings/span-classdate-display-single2009-june-27span/tempest-2009

One month away from Tempest and you need to know a bit more about what I would like to do in this event.

We are going to use a challenge system where you organise your opponents for each round. This will allow you to pick and choose your opposition and follow grudge matches.

You can only play each person once

Tables will be set scenarios

Cauldron, not one step back, Stem the Tide, free for all, No retreat (the newer version of Hold the line), river crossing,

Will be the scenarios in use. you can play them twice only. If you play the same scenario a second time you must play the opposite to your first game. ie if you attacked in river crossing the first game, you must defend in the second.

at least 5 games will be on offer, if we can, perhaps 6 if timing allows

Points will be recorded as usual with the battlefront scoring system but used only to determine a tied position
There are 2 bonus points on offer for each win.
The overall winner will be the person who wins the most games, even if they are all 4/3 victories!

Demolition vehicles will be played using the following rule as seen in MALFTF

"By the rules as written, recce troops cannot run away from a Goliath.
One of the experimental rules we have been considering is to have a turn delay between triggering the
Goliath and having it go off. So in your turn you move the Goliath into position and announce that it is going
to detonate. At the start of your next Shooting Step (after an intervening enemy turn) the Goliath detonates.
This removes a lot of issues and simplifies things too. There is no longer any need for defensive fire against
them since you can shoot them in your own turn and they can't blow up cavalry or recce troops since they will
just move away, etc.
It makes them useful for what they are designed for, blowing up fixed defenses that can't run away, but no
longer useful against mobile troops who can.(Phil)
Would you use the same rule for Bogward B IVs?
Yes. For all remote-control demolition carriers.(Phil)"

OK,

After a bit of feedback and serious consideration on my part I am going to change our format to

AXIS vs ALLIES and a SET FORMAL DRAW for at least 5 of the 6 games I hope to see played. I reserve the right to allow one round of challenges!

It is still mid war 1500 points and scenarios mentioned in previous posts will still be in play.

I have had indications of 7 allied armies and about 4 German but I know of many players who have german armies who have not yet commented and are possible players!

Please get entries in to me to indicate your armies please,

I will be using MALFTF to bring some light onto areas of conflict.

Important news for those doing their lists

KV1e WIll be a slow tank as per MALFTF information. This in particular where it is not shown in the looted panzer profile in Ostfront

KV1e will not be allowed in an Ostfront Italian list as a looted panzer platoon, but a T34 is fine as a looted panzer platoon
(my interpretation of that rule)

In regard to Goliaths and Bogwards we will be using the following rule as explained in MALTF

By the rules as written, recce troops cannot run away from a Goliath.
Yes. For all remote-control demolition carriers.(Phil)

If you kill the team launching/ controlling the vehicle then it will not explode!
